After your arrival in Maun you will be met by a representative and shown to your car. You will receive your maps and travel documentation and go through the usual formalities before driving away with your vehicle – based on the sometimes unpredictable terrain it is strongly suggested that you drive a 4x4 for this particular self drive. You will spend tonight in Maun – the gateway to the Okavango Delta.

Depart Maun and drive towards the Planet Baobab and the Kalahari Surf Club. The Makgadikgadi Pans and surrounding area has an unspoilt beauty unlike any other part of Africa. Planet Baobab is a rather funky Camp on the outskirts of the pans. Accommodation is in either traditional Bakalanga Huts or genuine Bushman Grass Huts. There are plenty of optional activities to be done in and around the pans.

After breakfast and an early morning game drive you will depart your lodge and drive to the Savute area of the Chobe National Park. The Park is divided into 4 distinctly different eco systems: Serondela in the extreme north-east; the Savuti Marsh in the west; the Linyanti Swamps in the north-west the hot dry hinterland in between. Often described as one of, if not the best, wildlife-viewing area in Africa today, Savuti boasts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife left on the African continent. Here too all activities will be undertaken in the Lodges accredited vehicles.
