Approximately 100km from Maun, the southern entrance gate of the Moremi Game Reserve, Magwee, is reached. Based on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta, Moremi hailed as one of the most beautiful wildlife reserves in Africa. Today the Moremi Reserve covers 1/3 of the Okavango Delta. Included in Moremi is the Mopane Tongue, a dry peninsula that thrusts into the heart of the Okavango delta. Also running from the Mopane Tongue is a patchwork of lagoons, flooded pans, plains and forests. Moremi Game Reserve has phenomenal populations of Africa's elephants, predators, plains game and specials such as red lechwe, sitatunga and roan antelope

Khwai River is the northern most outlet of the Okavango Delta, on the edge of Moremi Wildlife Reserve. Nearby Khwai village is home to the Bushman people who have hunted and gatheredhere for uncounted centuries, living always in harmony with the magnificent natural world surrounding them. The Moremi Game Reserve enjoys a wide diversity of habitat and is well known for the tall trees.
The Moremi Game Reserve divided into the following areas:
Khwai River:
see huge herds of elephant coming to the waters to drink.
Xakanaxa lagoon:
at the tip of the Mopane tongue where the forests meet a patchwork of waterways. Here herds of antelope attract their main predators — lions, leopard and cheetahs.
Mombo concession:
On world-renowned Chief’s Island, this area is where there are open grasslands dotted with date palms and acacia trees. Mombo is the site for many wildlife documentaries about wild dogs. Bird watching is superb with waders, kingfishers and darters in the waterways and regal eagles and other birds of prey flying above.
Vumbura and Duba plains:
on the northern side of the delta are administered by the Okavango Community Trust, which represents the local people who live on the fringes of the Okavango Delta.
