The Okavango Delta is Botswana's most famous and popular tourist attraction. This unique wetland system formed by the Okavango River runs through the middle of the Kalahari Desert. The Okavango Delta is one of the largest inland deltas in the world. The Okavango Delta has wildlife, which includes predators, antelope, birds and fish. Palm tree islets, savannah grasslands and forest glades surrounded by the winding waterways that snake through the Okavango Delta.
Great herds of antelopes, Buffalo and Elephants roam through the pastures, as well as Lions and Leopards. The Okavango Delta's plants includes the Delta palm tree in the perennial swamps, reeds and papyrus, and the waters provide a feeding and living heaven for Fish Eagles,Kingfishers, Hippopotami, Crocodiles and Tiger fish. Activities generally conducted in mokoros, traditional dugout canoes are a great way to see the Okavango Delta. You can also see the Delta on horseback or Elephant back.
